AT 70, NIGERIANS DEMAND ALTERNATIVE TO BUHARI!

As an intro, a section of Nigerian youths postulate that if push comes to shove and bearing in mind that PDP shakes whenever Tambuwal sneezes, APC should consider Hon Tambuwal/Amaechi/Fashola, the speaker of the House of Representatives as its compromise candidate for the presidency and forget the Buhari/Atiku perennial penchant for the presidential slot.

Posterity will not forgive the board of trustees of APC and its rigid egoistic leaders if they fail to bury ego, sentiment and personal animosity towards fielding formidable candidates to rescue power from the griping shackles of the present government of President Goodluck Jonathan.

Now is the time and period the opposition needs to get closer and capitalise on the low ratings both at home and internationally of the present administration.

Seemingly, as good as Buhari is, credible and experienced but the present dictates goes beyond the ephemeral and paraphernalia of semantics of integrity, these attributes are not cast in stone in any individual, it is innate in everyone waiting to be discovered. not a royal title, so to say.

Pundits respect General Buhari for his integrity but his obsession with wanting to be president is misplaced. He is seventy plus in age, contested thrice to no success, this will be his fourth attempt, being a past military leader.

Buhari's penchant and desire is seen more as an indictment of him, of his complicity in the failure that Nigeria has turned out to be. Great leaders build institutions that outlive them. Buhari should build a credible political party that will in the future produce credible leaders for this country and not incessantly obsess over becoming a president. This idea that if I am not the one who does it, no one else can must stop. Granted that Buhari did well when he was in charge, that was almost thirty years ago. The world has moved on. There is therefore an urgent need for regeneration. Enough of the recycled elders. APC MUST ACT NOW!
