Top Hitters At Fairview Friday

Jack Milner: Does Glen Kotzen have a chance of winning the Listed East Cape Fillies Nursery at Fairview on Friday?

He most certainly does.

Certainly is the name of the filly Kotzen brought to contest this race in Port Elizabeth and on form, she could prove hard to beat.

The daughter of Wylie Hall looked good on debut when winning easily in November last year. She no doubt needed her first outing of the year when drifting right out in the betting and ended up running accordingly.

However, in her next start she found loads of betting support and once again, ran accordingly, scooting home by 3.25 lengths over Miss Marguerite in the Non-Black Type Cape Yearling Sale Cup, putting a few males to the sword in the process.

She was a start-to-finish winner over the tough Kenilworth 1200m so the Fairview 1200m will not trouble her so she will take some catching.

However, she can expect a challenge from the locals, headed up by Alan Greeff-trained Holly’s View.

Greeff has an outstanding record in juvenile features and this Global View filly quickened like a good horse when winning on debut and should be smarter this time.

Greeff has three runners carded for this race and both Bouquet and Emily’s Spirit have chances.

Jacques Strydom-trained Chere For Me was doing her best work at the finish of her first two starts and third time out she was full of running when beating Tufaan by 5.25 lengths over 1000m. Stepping up to this distance should suit her even better.

Race 5 is a Pinnacle Stakes over 2700m, and the stamina of Divine Odyssey is set to be tested. He has impressed in his three local wins and should remain unbeaten at Fairview as he is weighted to win.
