Durbanville Tuesday Tips

Tuesday, 29 March
DURBANVILLE
Race 1

Race Summary: Competitive start. WHO DO YOU LOVE justified strong market support to win on debut and could confirm that promise by following up. A TIME TO FLOWER was well beaten by that rival on debut and improved with the benefit of that experience to finish 2nd last time behind BONIKA, who may struggle to confirm superiority on 3kg worse terms. PRIMULA and FUN ZONE have earning potential, as does newcomer GYPSY EXPRESS - watch the betting.

Selections:
#3 Who Do You Love, #4 A Time To Flower, #1 Bonika, #6 Gypsy Express

Race 2

Race Summary: REALLY ROYAL has kept good company in feature races and ought to be competitive in these calmer waters on favourable terms. DANCETILDAYLIGHT competed at Grade 1 level in her only outing over this trip and remains unexposed, so could build on her last-start 4th in a feature to play a leading role. BYE BYE BOMBSHELL won at her only attempt over this distance but YOUNG LOVE should reverse the form of a recent meeting with that rival on 5kg better terms and with first-time blinkers now fitted. MALEDIMO and JASMINE have claims too but must up their game to trouble the principals.

Selections:
#3 Dancetildaylight, #2 Really Royal, #6 Young Love, #4 Bye Bye Bombshell

Race 3

Race Summary: Tricky. SPARKLING CRYSTAL made the expected improvement with a run under her belt to finish second stepped up to a similar trip last time and, with a little luck from the widest draw, should go close again. LA VIDA disappointed over further after finishing 2nd over 1200m and a better effort can be expected of her dropped to this distance. Returning SHE'S MY CAPTAIN may lack fitness after a long break but had shown enough prior to that to be competitive. FLUID MOTION is a likely improver after a fair introduction and could have a say. Watch the betting on newcomers GIRLS GOT RHYTHM and METAR.

Selections:
#13 Sparkling Crystal, #1 La Vida, #2 She's My Captain, #6 Fluid Motion

Race 4

Race Summary: TCHAIKOVSKY had been threatening to exit the maiden ranks before a disappointing last start. He has been gelded since and remains open to improvement, so could make a winning return. MASTERFUL GUY has improved racing with blinkers fitted and should make his presence felt from an inside gate. Both BOWLED OVER and AXL are likely improvers too and should be respected. BOISTEROUS BUDDY bounced back to form at this track last time and could have a role to play if confirming that improvement.

Selections:
#1 Tchaikovsky, #3 Masterful Guy, #8 Bowled Over, #7 Axl

Race 5

Race Summary: Good race. Well-bred LA FOLIE DOUCE is consistent and proven at this level - sets the standard. Unexposed GOING UP is closely matched with that rival on the form of a recent meeting in a similar contest over 1250m and there shouldn't be much between the pair again on these terms. POLAR WORLD should make her presence felt on these revised weight terms and with first-time headgear likely to eke out improvement. SEEKING PEACE is seldom far off the action and should acquit herself competitively once more, while SAFE TO ASSUME and HAMMIE'S FAN could play minor roles.

Selections:
#2 Going Up, #1 La Folie Douce, #3 Polar World, #4 Seeking Peace

Race 6

Race Summary: Stablemates CLAP OF THUNDER and DOUGLAS have solid form credentials and should run well. The former tired late to finish on his return from a rest and gelding, when used up early to overcome a wide draw, and would have improved for that outing so should be competitive from an inside gate. Riding arrangements, however, suggest the latter is preferred despite a 104-day absence during which he was gelded. AENEAS has the form, experience and fitness to pose a threat but a wide draw to overcome. MAGIC MOMENTS, DOUBLE DUET and HIGH DUDGEON have earning potential.

Selections:
#2 Douglas, #1 Clap Of Thunder, #3 Aeneas, #4 Magic Moments

Race 7

Race Summary: Small field and a case can be made for most. Top-weight SUDDEN STAR is versatile and doesn't know how to run a bad race. He appears the pick of the Crawford runners on jockey arrangements and could make a winning stable debut. KAPTEIN ought to go well again in his peak outing (3rd after a rest and gelding) and may pose the biggest threat after a game frontrunning 2nd in a similar contest last time out. NIGHT SONG and last-start winner DUBAI LIGHTS are also capable of staking a claim off their current marks. DO ANGELS CRY gets weight from the principals and should also acquit herself competitively.

Selections:
#1 Sudden Star, #3 Kaptein, #4 Do Angels Cry, #7 Night Song

Race 8

Race Summary: Good race. LION'S HEAD is closing in on another career win and should play a leading role over the extra 200m after a fast-finishing 2nd in a stronger 1400m race last time. THE SECOND WAVE was drawn widest and returning from a break when just 0.50 lengths adrift of that rival and, with improved fitness on his side from a favourable No 4 gate, could represent the value in the race. Hat-trick seeking HAN SOLO has turned a corner fitted with blinkers and should have a say if equally effective at this distance. A fitter NIGHT RULER should get closer on these terms. SURJAY could also have a say.

Selections:
#6 The Second Wave, #3 Lion's Head, #8 Night Ruler, #4 Han Solo

Best Win: #2 GOING UP
Best Value Bet:
Best Longshot: #6 THE SECOND WAVE
