GREYVILLE
Race 1
Race Summary: Interestingly RASPBERRY BERET is the one to beat when looking at the best weighted column. She did run her best race over 1000m but misbehaved last time, running below par on the poly. NDAKA has been knocking hard at the door and could much improve on earlier poly form now matured. He can go one better after finishing runner-up in his last three. KING'S SPEAR was not far off NDAKA the first time they met and must be better than his last race when well behind NDAKA. He could much prefer the the surface. ADMIRAL CASTILE has been gelded so can show.
Selections:
#3 Ndaka, #5 Raspberry Beret, #8 King's Spear, #4 Admiral Castile
Race 2
Race Summary: NKALANZINZI can make amends after disappointing as a short odds-on favourite last time. She was outpaced over the shorter trip and couldn't get going but back over 1400m could go all the way. Many can improve to challenge for honours. Garth Puller's two fillies, TROUBADIX and AFRICAN TUNE, are well bred and set to improve over the extra. The former has not had luck in terms of the barrier and has jumped slowly but did show something on debut. AFRICAN TUNE came in for betting support on debut - follow the money. FORGED IN ICE must also be in need of the trip on pedigree.
Selections:
#3 Nkalanzinzi, #6 Troubadix, #4 Forged In Ice, #2 African Tune
Race 3
Race Summary: THUNDER MASALA ran on too late on poly debut but confirmed the improvement shown over 1600m at Scottsville. With the benefit of experience and a good pace he can go on to score. But there are are Highveld raiders in the race. GIMME A DREAM drifted in the betting last time and ran accordingly. The soft ground may have been his undoing and he has shown enough to go close on the poly first time. APOLLO ELEVEN needed his last race after a long layoff and is another who has shown potential. CLEAN SLATE and TRIDENT KING are improving nicely but have wide barriers to overcome.
Selections:
#3 Thunder Masala, #4 Apollo Eleven, #2 Gimme A Dream, #7 Clean Slate
Race 4
Race Summary: Ultra-competitive race - go wide in exotics. PAPA C has run good races since winning his maiden but has lagged on the turf and perhaps the poly could see him get closer. GRIMALDI made further improvement in his second run after a rest and now at a peak gets to try the poly. It could be what this well-bred sort is looking for. Stable companion BLUE MOON CITY does well from the front and so he too needs to be taken seriously. It could get close between ARUMUGAM and GALWAY who both turned in useful efforts behind a specialist. SPRING FLING carries a big weight but rates a danger.
Selections:
#3 Papa C, #2 Grimaldi, #7 Blue Moon City, #9 Galway
Race 5
Race Summary: Probably the hardest race on the day. GUNSMOKE suddenly won after showing little prior and he looks to have been in need of the Polytrack. But this is tougher. MAJORCA PALACE has drawn almost as well as GUNSMOKE. He seems to have his problems but this could be his day. JUSTAGUYTHING goes for a hat trick. He is in the form of his life and could pull it off if not outpaced over shorter. HAMPTON COURT is not one to ignore. He could hold them off if the pace is on. ONE TOO MANY needed his last race and may just stay on better on the poly. WE ALL CHOMIES and IMITATION GAME can earn.
Selections:
#2 Gunsmoke, #3 Majorca Palace, #9 Justaguything, #5 Hampton Court
Race 6
Race Summary: FLASHY KAITRINA is getting there fast and now drawn well on the poly should make them all run. She is versatile but is arguably better on this surface. STAR CHOICE showed something like her best form last time and is now back over her best distance. Big danger. Highveld raiders RIO'S KISS and THERE SHE GOES are capable of running big races on their poly debuts. The former shows good pace on the turf and has gate No 1 so will have every chance. The latter has been racing with stronger and may improve a lot in this race. ETHIOPIAN QUEEN is back on the poly and can shine this time.
Selections:
#2 Flashy Kaitrina, #4 Star Choice, #1 Rio's Kiss, #3 There She Goes
Race 7
Race Summary: Nice race. TREAD SWIFTLY ran in features at Scottsville recently but didn't enjoy it there. He has drawn well back at Greyville and rates a value proposition. RALPH THE RASCAL has run two fair races in a row and should be right there again. He has won in this class. If NAVAL SECRET is ready after a rest he could make light of 49.5kgs and keep going strongly. He is one of the most consistent sorts around. SPRING HIGH is in good form and looks the stable elect over VIA SALARIA. MR PIGALLE and SNIPER SHOT have definite claims on form.
Selections:
#3 Tread Swiftly, #5 Ralph The Rascal, #4 Naval Secret, #7 Spring High
Race 8
Race Summary: This race appears to be between ZANETTO and CAMORA. The former is a Highveld filly who shows a lot of speed and if she takes to the poly she could be hard to catch. She has drawn in pole position. CAMORA has loved racing on this track and over this trip. He can follow up but he has not drawn well again. FOREST JUMP is as consistent as they get and having drawn well he should be right there in the money again. CAPTAIN SEAGER and HIGH VELOCITY have been doing well of late and need to be considered for Trifectas and Quartets as well.
Selections:
#7 Camora, #1 Zanetto, #3 Forest Jump, #10 Captain Seager
Best Win: #3 NDAKA
Best Value Bet: #3 TREAD SWIFTLY
Best Longshot: #3 TREAD SWIFTLY
