NIGERIAN POLICE OFFICER RETURNS STOLEN N150,000.00 TO OWNER!

Enough of rhetorics, Corporal Abu Tanko deserves a national honour. He is the most honourable Nigerian at the moment. Better than the so called honourables championing child marriages!

A POLICEMAN, Corporal Abu Tanko, on Friday, proved there is more to the image of the average Nigerian cop than that of a gun-totting extortionist forcing out money from motorists.

At about 1.15pm, a customer walked out of one of the commercial banks at Area 3, Abuja, clutching a polythene bag, containing the sum of N150,000 he had just withdrawn.

But as he walked to the road, a man grabbed the bag from him, jumped on a waiting motorcycle and sped off.

The customer’s shout attracted Tanko, a police motorcycle rider attached to Force Headquarters, Abuja.

The Corporal gave the thieves a hot chase. At Area 8, it dawned on the hoodlums that the game was over. They flung the bag away and fled.

Tanko returned to the scene, about 15 minutes later, with the entire sum of money intact and handed over the same to the owner, who did not believe he would ever get back his money.

A crowd, of course, had gathered. And if the looks on their faces were anything to go by, they wished every Nigerian policeman was a Corporal Abu Tanko.

This is indeed a very good social responsibility from the company.

The family of late veteran singer Pa Olayiwola Fatai Olagunju, popularly known Fatai Rolling Dollar, has received a gift of N.5 million from Daily Needs company.

The children of the late singer had cried out shortly after their father died that they may be forced to drop out of school due to non-payment of school fees.

The company said the gesture is a way of identifying with the family and also appreciating the work of late Rolling Dollar, who was their brand ambassador for years before his death.

Zanaib Olagunju, one of the wives of Fatai Rolling Dollar, who received the donation on behalf of the children, said the money will be used for the education of the late singer's children.

Fatai Rolling Dollar died on June 12 at the age of 87.
