Jack Milner: Capetown Affair could not have had a better introduction to the Greyville Polytrack last Monday when a 3.80-length second behind runaway winner Zanetto.

He clearly had no chance of beating the winner but the son of Capetown Noir was always up with the pace and kept on resolutely to finish a clear second.

That was in a MR 70 Handicap over 1400m and his first run since 9 December. It was also his first run since joining the Dennis Bosch yard in KwaZulu-Natal and he has no doubt flourished at the coast.

On Monday he lines up in a MR 68 Handicap over the same course and distance and he has a lot going for him. He is drawn No 1 and carries a light weight which has been enhanced by the 2.5kg claim of apprentice Kaydan Brewer.

He did get a 1.5kg penalty for his last run but will still just carry 50.5kg and could prove very hard to beat. He looks the banker on the card.

The brother and sister partnership of Wayne Badenhorst and Barbara Kennedy have some decent runners at Greyville on Monday,the best looks to be Two Of Us who runs in Race 3, a MR 73 Handicap over 1200m.

He won an amazing race at Scottsville last time out. He was switching from the Polytrack to the turf and expected to be outpaced, but more unexpected was the bump he took at the start. On top of that he was carried inward midway ending up the inside of the track – and still won.

He had been running good races but reducing his burden by 4kg with a claiming apprentice looks to have done the trick. Apprentice Donald Geerthsen has been improving with each passing month and with Two Of Us could be headed for a good partnership themselves.

Badenhorst and Kennedy could also be on the mark with Cashew who will be partnered by Muzi Yeni. She is a strong frontrunner, and while she beat a weak field in the maidens last time, she may still be good enough against the bottom division on handicap debut in Race 4, a MR 66 Handicap for fillies and mares over 1600m.
