Photo Of Nigerian Shot Dead In Peckham!

Mr Ola Raji was found lying unconscious between two parked cars with gunshot and stab wounds, after he had tried to cycle through a Peckham estate at 10.30pm on Tuesday 21 April.

Despite officers’ best efforts to revive the college student, he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival at a central London hospital.

A post-mortem which took place last week found the cause of death was a single gunshot wound to the chest.

Mr Raji had been a pupil at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic School in Camberwell and wanted to become an engineer.

Detectives believe he had been cycling onto the estate on the night of the murder before he was attacked by two people.

Police believe the perpetrators fled the murder on foot in the direction of Sumner Road via a cut through from Cator Road.

Scotland Yard are particularly keen to speak to the driver of a car that drove down Rosemary Road at 10.30pm as they may have seen the killers running in the opposite direction.

A 24-year-old man from Peckham was arrested yesterday (Monday 27 April). He was taken to a west London police station where he remains at this time.

Detective Chief Inspector (DCI) Will Reynolds of the Homicide and Major Crime Command said he believed there were witnesses to the murder and

DCI Reynolds said: “We believe that after being shot Ola may have had some property stolen from him. It is likely that he was wearing a small pouch or bag under his body warmer. This has not yet been found.

“One week on from Ola’s death, I would like to urge local people and anyone visiting the estate at the time of the murder to think about where they were and what they saw.

“It is essential that we piece together his movements that evening and understand why he was in East Surrey Grove at that time. Did you know Ola? Were you with him that evening? Do you know why he was there?”
