Bill Cosby Sued For Sexual Assault

Bill Cosby has been sued by a 55-year-old woman for “sexual assault and infliction of emotional distress.” Cosby is being sued by Judy Huth, who claims that she was only 15 years old when the comedian molested her in a bedroom at the Playboy Mansion.

NBC News reports that in a civil lawsuit filed at the Los Angeles County Superior Court on Tuesday, Huth claimed that she and a 16-year-old friend met Cosby during filming at Lacy Park in San Marino, Los Angeles County in 1974, and accepted an invitation to see him at a tennis club.

According to the lawsuit, Huth and her friend met Cosby at the club the following week where they played billiards. Their host plied them with “multiple alcoholic beverages.”

“Under the terms of Cosby’s game, plaintiff was required to consume a beer every time Cosby won a game.”

Saying that he had a surprise for the teenagers, Cosby led “them to another house which turned out to be the Playboy Mansion,” the Beverly Hills home of Playboy magazine’s Hugh Hefner, The Guardian reports.

He allegedly told the girls that if anyone asked, they should say that they were 19 years old. While they were at the mansion, Huth asked to use the bathroom. Cosby allegedly took her to a bedroom suite, where, according to the five-page complaint, he forced her to perform a sex act on him.

“When Plaintiff emerged from the bathroom, she found Cosby sitting on the bed. He asked her to sit beside him. He then proceeded to sexually molest her by attempting to put his hand down her pants, and then taking her hand in his hand and performing a sex act on himself without her consent.”

The plaintiff claimed that she suffered psychological and emotional trauma due to the incident. However, in what appears an attempt to explain why it took her so long to file a complaint, she said she realized the extent of the damage only recently and that she was unable to link her “substantial and continuing” psychological and emotional damage with the assault.

The fresh allegation follows a recently renewed spate of allegations of sexual assault against Cosby. At least 20 women have come forward with claims of sexual assault against the 77-year-old. Although the allegations came to media and public attention only recently, they first surfaced about ten years ago when Andrea Constand, former coach of Temple University women’s basketball team, sued, alleging she was drugged and sexually assaulted by the TV star.

She reported the incident to police in 2005 and filed a civil lawsuit after the district attorney said there was not enough evidence to prosecute Cosby. The suit was settled out of court, but witnesses who were supposed to testify anonymously in court began coming forward publicly in recent weeks.

The allegations have severely damaged the reputation of the highly respected entertainer who, as Dr. Cliff Huxtable, in the popular NBC sit-com The Cosby Show, was held up as role model for young black men. The accusations have forced him to resign from the board of Trustees of the University, his alma mater.

Netflix and NBC have canceled projects with him. A number of stand-up shows have also been cancelled.

Martin Singer, Bill Cosby’s attorney, did not immediately issue a statement in response to the new allegation.
