Lagos PDP In Guber Consensus Crisis!

Ahead of the December 8, governorship primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) nationwide, there are indications that the candidate of the party in Lagos State may emerge by consensus if the party leaders in the state have their way.

Daily Sun gathered that the party’s leaders in the state were already meeting with gubernatorial aspirants to convince them to rally round one aspirant.

There are about seven aspirants currently in the race for the party governorship ticket.

This is just as the Patriots, a pressure group within the Lagos PDP, said it had endorsed the immediate past Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musliu Obanikoro for the governorship ticket of the party.

Members of the group at a meeting in Lagos recently said they decided to support the aspiration of Obanikoro because he had the capacity to win the governorship election for the party.

Speaking at the meeting, an ex-officio member of the party in the South-West zone, Alhaji Atinuke Bab-Olorunfemi, who moved the motion for the former minister’s adoption said Obanikoro had a track record of performance, saying he would win the election for the party.

Also speaking, leader of the group, Chief Jide Damazio, said: “Having served as a local government chairman, a senator, an ambassador and a minister, it is obvious that Obanikoro is superior to other aspirants and, hereby, receives our full support to
contest.

“Out of the 19 Lagos councillors elected on the platform of the PDP in Lagos, 12 are part of this group. So, you can be sure that our support will count.”
