Former Super Eagles coach Adegboye Onigbinde has blasted Stephen Keshi for his criticisms of Osaze Odemwingie whom he said did not play to instructions in Nigeria's first game against Iran.
The Super Eagles battled to a 0-0 draw against Iran on Monday, with the team getting bashed for their appalling display in the game.
Osaze was singled out as the only Nigerian player that impressed in the game but Keshi said afterwards: “the Osaze you are talking about didn’t do well. Osaze did not play to instruction and that affected the team”
But Onigbinde criticised Keshi for the comments adding that a coach shouldn't have said that about the player in public.
“The professional ethics are there but don’t forget that the individuality in everybody is also always there, and then it depends on one’s background," he told the News Agency of Nigeria(NAN)
“I have never enjoyed picking quarrels with my players. Football is a team game, and the coach must be very good in the management of human beings.
“Like your team loses the match and then you come out to say that it is because the player did not play to instruction.
“You are exposing yourself by telling the whole world that you are not capable of controlling your players.
“So, instead of ridiculing the players you are ridiculing yourself.
