… 6 Permanent Secretaries amongst Awardees
Lagos State Government has honoured 551 Public Servants who have served the State for more than thirty years with the Long Service Merit Award. The Awardees comprising Permanent Secretaries, Directors and other Officers cut across different cadres and Ministries.
The State Deputy Governor, Mrs. Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire at the event said the award was to celebrate the public servants and avails the state government the opportunity to express it appreciation to the worthy public servants who have served the State and the people meritoriously for over thirty years. She added that the award was also an acknowledgement of the awardees’ loyalty and dedication to duty having spent greater part of their productive years in serving the state.
The deputy governor said ‘‘I am happy that your services, contributions and participation to our great state have impacted positively on the lives of Lagosians, Nigerians and have brought development to our people and State. You have wholly committed yourselves, your time, energy and knowledge to serving and helping the government implement its programmes and policies.’’
Whilst admonishing the recipients to continue in upholding the ethics and values of the service and be good role models to others, Mrs. Orelope-Adefulire charged them to continue to display an uncommon sense of responsibility and greater commitment to duty as the state government counts on their knowledge and experience for the continued implementation of government policies and programmes.
Mrs. Orelope-Adefulire assured that the administration will continue to create the necessary environment and invest more in capacity building programmes to further enhance staff career progression in the state as they remain the engine room and building blocks of the various developments in the state.
Earlier in her address, the State Head of Service, Mrs. Josephine Oluseyi Williams said the award was to further encourage diligence, commitment and loyalty amongst public servants in the state with the anticipation that it would spur recipients to continue to put in their best in the service of the State.
While congratulating the recipients for their diligence, dedication, loyalty and invaluable contribution to the State Public Service, she charged them not to rest on their oars but continue to exhibit high sense of responsibility and unalloyed loyalty.
The Head of Service therefore thanked the Governor of the State, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) for his continued commitment to the general welfare and well being of Public Servants in the State and the sustenance of the Long Service Merit Award Ceremony.
She assured the state government of the continued commitment and loyalty in implementing all the policies and programmes of the state government to engender the actualization of the policy thrust of poverty eradication and sustainable economic growth in the state.
