City Reclaim Premier League Title

City Reclaim Premier League Title

Manchester City wrapped up a second Premier League title in three seasons after beating West Ham United 2-0 with Liverpool's come-from-behind 2-1 win over Newcastle United proving to be in vain.

Goals from Samir Nasri and captain Vincent Kompany were enough to give Manuel Pellegrini's men the title by a couple of points.

Liverpool trailed to an early own goal by Martin Skrtel, but two quickfire second-half goals from Daniel Agger and Daniel Sturridge at least confirmed them in second place. Newcastle had Shola Ameobi and Paul Dummett sent off.

Norwich City's relegation from the top flight was confirmed after a 2-0 home defeat by fourth-placed Arsenal, who had Aaron Ramsey among their scorers, while Tottenham Hotspur booked Europa League football for next season by beating Aston Villa 3-0, set on the way to victory by Paulinho's strike.

Ryan Giggs' likely last game as Manchester United manager ended in a 1-1 draw at Southampton, as FA Cup finalists Hull City were beaten 2-0 at home by Everton, with loanee Romelu Lukaku signing off his spell with the club with another goal.

Bottom club Cardiff City bowed out of the Premier League with a 2-1 home defeat by Chelsea as fellow relegated side Fulham twice came from behind to draw 2-2 with Crystal Palace, who got two more goals from Dwight Gayle.

Stoke City recorded their highest Premier League finish with a 2-1 win at out-of-form West Bromwich Albion and Sunderland's recent flying run was checked by Swansea City, who were 3-1 winners at the Stadium of Light.
