Bank Robbery In London Piccadilly!

Witnesses are reporting on Twitter that Barclays bank in Piccadilly was robbed this morning.

A Met spokesperson said: “We were called at 9.35am this morning to Barclays Bank in Regents Street to reports of an aggressive man at the bank.

“The man has stolen a quantity of money and made off before the police arrived.

“We do not believe a weapon was seen or anyone was injured.”

Five officers are at the scene investigating what happened.

Richard Barnett tweeted: “Some idiot has tried robbing Barclays Bank next door to my job, left coin trays on pavement.”

David Marsden-Sainou tweeted: “Absolute chaos in Piccadilly... Someone actually just tried to rob Barclays Bank?! Dropped the loot on the way out!”

On her My So Called Life In A Box blog, Kayleigh Llewellyn said: “My friend was working in our shop opposite the bank when he heard a commotion. One Chinese lady came hurtling out of the bank.

“She was followed by a crowd of other customers. Then one lone man casually swaggered out, carrying a rucksack crammed with cash trays and shouting, ‘ROBBED’.

“The cash trays triggered a load of red smoke as he exited, so he then dumped the trays and stuffed the cash in to his bag, notes flying everywhere, before sauntering off up the road.

No arrests have been made at this stage.
