Senator Tinubu who is in town to receive a special award from the Association of Nigerian Academics in the UK (Anauk) on Saturday April 5, is being honoured for her contribution to education and empowerment in Nigeria. Councillor Aminu, who is also the Anauk president, will host Senator Tinubu and her entourage at the awards ceremony due to take place at the Hilton London Metropole along Edgware Road in west London.
Organised to recognise Senator Tinubu for what is being described as her outstanding contribution to education and empowerment in Nigeria, the awards ceremony has been integrated into Anauk's annual dinner. Among other things, Anauk tries to impact Nigerian education policy decisions and their implementation in order to enhance sustainable growth and development across the sector and is hoping Senator Tinubu's presence will enhance this process.
Councillor Aminu said: "I shall be receiving the Senator and her entourage at Lambeth Town Hall in Brixton tomorrow. I hope that events like this will serve the purpose of allowing Nigerian politicians to interact more with the diaspora."
According to Councillor Aminu, Anauk is recognising Senator Tinubu to appreciate her commitment to the development of education in Nigeria and her poverty alleviation and empowerment initiatives. He added that her apprenticeship and vocational training for women and youth is of tremendous significance.
