The Ondo state capital, Akure is currently witnessing a form of violent protest. The protest stemmed from the ongoing youth carnival gone awry. Fuji Musician, King Saheed Osupa is reportedly not being able to mount the stage as fracas breaks out between Akure youths and supporters of Governor Mimiko over money sharing formula. Three youths have reportedly lost their lives while scores are injured. The town is reportedly a no go area as at the time of this report.
Police intervention is imperative but may be inadequate in the face of the rampaging youths. One of the hiphop artistes billed to perform, Kunmisings, said she was unable to reach the venue and warned not to venture near the event being a female singer, even Osupa is holed up in his hotel.
