There were very strong indications emanating from post interment that 72-year old Mr Biodun Lucas who has just been buried, had committed suicide by jumping from the upper floor of the Turton Street, Lafiaji, Lagos residence of the Lucas family deliberately to his death.
This hara-kiri was apparently committed by Biodun Lucas, son of late illustrious Reverend Lucas of the Lagos Anglican Diocese, in realisation that he had absolutely nothing going for him—no wife, no child, nothing. Biodun, brother of 79-year old Bisi Lucas and Chief Deinde Lucas, former Chairman of Lagos Island Club was was aged 72. His cousin, Mrs Olugbo Hollist, also lived in the same one-storey scrupulously well-maintained and well-cleaned house which was originally inherited by late Lady Ayo Manwa, founder of Aunty Ayo Schools in Southwest Ikoyi, Lagos.
This event brings to mind other suicides that occurred in Lagos in the recent past which included the son of city Big Boy, Akin and Tokunbo (Nee Akinyemi Obe) Ajidahun, the daughter of Rasaq and Funlayo (Nee, Fagbayi) Ogbara, Motunrayo and Kings College Old Boy, Dr “De Gaulle” Lawal.

Factually incorrect, Biodun did not commit suicide nor is he brother to Deinde or Bisi Lucas. Lady Manwa never owned the Turton street propert, it was built and owned by her older sister Mrs Rebecca Lucas.
ReplyDeleteBiodun was a nephew of Reverend Lucas not a son.
