“This brief statement explains the reason behind the absence of the former Governor of Lagos State and leading founder of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu from public engagements in the past few days.

All Progressives Congress National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who has been out of the country for more than two months on medical grounds is billed to return home this weekend. A source close to the former Lagos State governor said he would return on Saturday or Sunday and that preparations had already begun for his eventual return.

“Based on previous sports injury on one of his knees and recent further aggravation on the knee from rigorous political and family related activities, he has been advised by his doctors, despite his persistent reluctance, that orthopedic surgery is necessary at this time. “He is now 95 percent if not 99 percent fit and he is set to return home,” a source in London told THISDAY last night over the telephone.

At his London apartment, Tinubu has been holding court, meeting and receiving political leaders, state governors, captains of industries and bank executives. A source said Tinubu’s associates and supporters had turned the London apartment into a Mecca of sort. Among those who visited him last week are former Head of State and another APC leader, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi, former Secretary to Edo State Government, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, Senator Tony Adeniyi, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, Senator Bunmi Adetunbi, Pastor Kemela Okara and Mr. Jide Adesioye. Buhari and Tinubu made a joint appearance in Manchester, United Kingdom last Saturday at the inauguration of the Democratic Progressive Movement. The event held at the Methodist Central Building in Manchester City. The two leaders were sighted moving to board a train to Manchester at Euston Train Station in London.
