SUNSHINE/3SC IN BRIBERY SCANDAL!

Good old days of Water Corporation of Ibadan, Femo Scorpion of Eruwa and Leventis United FC that metamorphosed into Abiola Babes! WOW! Memories and reminiscences.

I guess there should be a regulation that mandates bloggers in Nigeria to promote domestic sports content! It should not be all about skelewu, bra color Tontos mini skirt and curvy backside news! At least let us devote 10% of our coverage to domestic sports content. I stumbled on this hot news and as usual, had to share it!

FOLLOWING calls in some quarters that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) should set up an investigation panel over an alleged N1.5million bribe collected by the chairman of the NFF’s Organising and Disciplinary (O&D) Committee, Barrister Leye Adepoju, the latter has said that he is fully prepared for probe.

A member of O&D, Barrister Iyke Igbokwe had alerted journalists to the allegation that Adepoju collected N1.5 million from the Shooting Stars Sports Club to assist them get a favourable judgment in their case against Sunshine Stars of Akure.

Also, another member of O&D, Brigadier-General Emmanuel Okaro (retd) had on Tuesday in an interview with Sports Splash, a television programme said that the NFF must set up a panel of inquiry to ascertain the veracity of the allegation.

However Adepoju, who is also the chairman of the Oyo State Football Association, while speaking with Tribunesport, said he is fully in support of setting up a panel to lay the issue to rest once and for all.

“Setting up a probe panel is a welcome idea because it will enable me to clear my name from the mess which the allegation has already generated. I have to set the record straight before Nigerians who have been following the trend of events.

“I wonder why some people are interested in dragging my name through the mud by altering such document that did not emanate from the board of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) in the first instance. I strongly believe that it is the handiwork of my enemies and I am saying it again that I did not collect any money on behalf of O&D.

“In fact, I will be glad if the NFF can set up a panel to investigate the matter because this is the only way to resolve the issue and clear my name from the mess,” Adepoju said.
