According to a family member of the late Governor who spoke to CKN Nigeria today on condition of anonymity, the family of the late governor had arranged to take the corpse to Ondo State in a motorcade yesterday morning.
But the Ondo State government for reasons best known to them aborted that plan at the last moment.
It went ahead to charter the crashed plane.
According to her, on getting to the airport, we realized that the plane hired was a smaller plane, which had a capacity for about 20 people.
Even while at the airport, they continued to call us from Akure, asking us to bring the corpse quickly that the governor was waiting.
We were wondering why the rush, it was not until later that it dawned on us that yesterday was also the birthday of the governor.
It was at the airport that we decided that few us should accompany the corpse because of the size of the plane while the others will go by road.
My brother, if not by the grace of God, I probably would have been one of those who probably would have died in the crash.
When we heard about the crash, we rushed to the venue and were shocked by what we saw, thank God the life of his son was spared.
I pray for the souls of those who lost their families in that accident.

The body and over 40 selected friends and family were therefore selected to accompany the corpse with the plane.

If this was actually what transpired, sorry to say that Agagu's family and children are stupid and greedy. It is barbaric to aportion blames on Governor Mimiko for his magnanimy to honour his predecessor. Because with all the wealth of Agagu, I wonder if free aircraft must change the family's plan or take predecence over their own desire. I'm sure if they had insisted on their own plan, the Governor would not insist. Again, this has exposed the laxity and incompetence of South West PDP, because Ondo State PDP was in best position to insist that except financial support to Agagu's family by the State government (if wished) and presence to honour him, the family must not accept aircraft, vehicles, food, drinks, chairs, tables, canopies, etc. But this as part of intellectual and foot soldier politicking is lacking. If the family disagrees, National Hqrs could link the Presidency to call the family to order in keeping PDP's pride and ego. But mediocres have stolen show in the South West and PDP's brain box is virus infected. They are only after Abuja appointments and contracts and not interested in winning elections. Allahu Akbar!
ReplyDeleteMay Agagu's soul and others who died in the mishap rest in peace and may God save Nigeria, AMEN!!!
