Some 20,000 fans turned out to see the new signing, who took to the pitch sporting his new number 11 shirt.
In a 10-minute address, club president Florentino Perez said: "We are the most demanding club in the world but we will always be by your side.
"Many of the best players in the world have graced this pitch and you are now following in their footsteps.
"This is your stadium, this is your shirt, these are your supporters. From today on, this isyour home and that of your entire family. Welcome to your team, welcome to Real Madrid."
The footballer was then joined by members of his family.
FROM humble beginnings in Cardiff to the Bernabéu, Gareth Bale showed off his skills today in front of a stadium full of cheering Real Madrid fans after becoming the most expensive player in history.
The 24-year-old also uttered his first words of Spanish, saying to the crowd: "It is a dream to be here in Madrid. Thank you for this welcome."
Bale made football history last night with his £86 Million move from Tottenham Hotspur to the Spanish club.
By becoming Madrid’s newest galactico, Bale trumps teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, who formerly held the top spot with his £80 Million transfer to Madrid from Manchester United.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy revealed that it wasn’t the high price tag that prompted the sale, but concerns Bale was no longer committed to the club.
