  2. As I watched the video of the purported apparitions/portraits of some scholars to some Islamic sect said to have been seen in Lagos, Nigeria, I prayed that Allah guide these individuals being misled by the tricks of Shaytaan to the right path! In the video, I could see people venerating the 'scholars' and seeking help from them.

How on earth would you say you believe in Allah, yet you seek help from other than Him? How can you say you are a believer, yet you tell lies for the sake of popularity and at the expense of your hereafter? How can you claim to follow the prophet when you spread falsehood in the name of 'miracle'? How else do you describe those who take with levity important aspects of the religion but make mandatory on themselves non-existing acts and try connecting it to the religion?

From an ordinary Nigerian perspective, I see the creators of this idolatry practice as jobless and uneducated. They've cashed a lot on the ignorance of the flock! Much of pristine Islamic religious education is needed! The Prophet (PBUH) had warned us against unnecessary veneration of humans, including himself! Why are these sects doing so today?

What is meant by the pristine Islamic religious education is one based on the Qur'an and the sunnah. Not the one subjected to personal prejudice in the name of 'divergence of opinion'. True it is that scholars differ on certain issues in the religion . But the differing opinions should be ones that are based on the interpretations of the pious predecessors (especially the first three generations). I fear that if we continue to create falsehoods like this, we might be out to another path. May Allah guide us!
