How To Love A Black Woman
Some brothers seem to be oblivious to the things that make black women happy and confident in relationships. Many of these points likely apply to women of all races but I can only confidently speak from a black woman’s perspective. While I don’t speak for all black women; the following are eleven fundamentals that would ensure that a man finds favor with me.
(Why eleven? I didn’t want to be cliché and stop at ten. *smile*)

1. Support her dreams…Make the woman in your life feel empowered by supporting her in all that she does. She needs you to be her number one fan. With you, she’s invincible.
2. Make her feel confident about your relationship, and clearly define what her role is in your life…Assure her that she’s the only one for you. I’m not suggesting that you ask her “will you go with me?”; but by all means be specific in letting her know that you consider yourself in an exclusive relationship with her.
3. Celebrate her beauty…Black women have never been appropriately recognized among the great beauties in America. Our natural beauty and style are always questioned and compared to white women. We are always put-down for our large behinds and hips. Our dark complexion, broad noses and coarse hair. Be that brother who appreciates us for the queens we are.
4. Defend her honor…Society has a negative opinion about our personalities and character. We’re always judged before we open our mouths. We’re called “loud” and “intimidating”. We need our men to defend us, have our backs. We want to be soft and meek with our men when we come home from being challenged all day. Allow us to be.
5. Share your life with her…Let your guard down and allow her to be your best friend. Allow her into your mind. Share your goals and dreams with her. Let her know that her opinion is valuable to your decision-making.
6. Teach her what you know…Share with her the wealth of knowledge you have. Become powerful together. We love to “study” and fully understand our men.
7. Ensure her that she is your confidant…Sever emotional and supportive bonds with your women friends. No one, but an insecure woman will insist that you end your existing relationships with your platonic female friends, but your woman is your help-meet; your home girl is just a friend. Matters of the heart and those that mean the most to you ought to only be shared with your woman. We want to not only be your woman but your best friend. If you give the best of your heart and emotions to any other woman, we’ll consider it cheating.
8. Leave your father and mother and cleave to your wife…Keep your mother out of the relationship! Period!
9. Don’t impose limitations in the bedroom…Never ration sex to her or punish her by withholding sex. Some men assume that because a woman has a healthy sexual appetite that she must have been promiscuous in her past. This is simply not true and is insulting. We love sex just as much as you do. Many of us consider sex and love to be synonymous. Intimacy is just as important as communication.
10. COMMUNICATE…Don’t make her guess how you feel or wonder what’s on your mind. You know how much we love to talk. Share with her the highs and lows of your day. Be engaging while talking to her. Don’t be a bump on the log who shrugs his shoulders and mumbles “I don’t know” every time a question is asked. Don’t shut us out.
11. Is she confident that you are proud of your relationship?…Proudly present her to your friends when you’re out. Let everyone around you see and hear the admiration in your disposition. Make them want what you have. She’ll be sure to thank you for it; particularly if you happen to come across your ex.
