IGP RESHUFFLES COMMISSIONERS

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. MD Abubakar, today ordered the redeployment of 14 police commissioners around the country, saying the action would position the force for greater efficiency and better performance in the fight against crime and criminality.

He also ordered six Assistant Inspectors-General and 13 Commissioners from various commands and formations, including Zonal Commands and Force Headquarters, on a one-week Leadership and Strategic Management Course, starting today.

In an action that raises a lot of questions, however, the Mr. Abubakar did not redeploy the nation’s most controversial policeman, Rivers Commissioner of police Mbu Joseph Mbu, or even send him to Lagos for the week’s training. Some parties blame Mr. Mbu, who is thought to be implementing the agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan, for the chaos in Rivers State.
