The Portuguese boss gained a reputation as producing a physical side that was hard to break down, while lethal at the other end of the pitch.
But he insisted that his sides were more offensive than they were given credit for marking out his achievements.

“Record of points in La Liga – My Real Madrid side. Record goals in La Liga – Real Madrid.
“We want to win by defending very well. I don’t know where this story comes from.
“Sometimes they gamble more than everybody else. If we’re not winning, we give it a go.
“I think that’s part of the game. you can speak about styles – you can prefer one to the other.
“Nobody can say my teams are not offensive teams. Oscar, Hazard, Mata, De Bruyne, Schurlle.
“We can’t play physical football with these people. You’ve got to use the best quality the team has.
“My players are technical players. We need the ball, we want the ball. We try to attack and be dominant.
“We have to be humble but recognise that opponents are better than you, you have to organise yourself.”
Mourinho is bracing himself to return to Premier League action he left in 2007 and he is looking forward to appreciating the atmosphere across the country, not just at Stamford Bridge.
He added: “I believe match after match but as I was saying before I look forward to many things.
“I look forward to the fans’ enthusiasm Even when you play away at home in a hostile atmosphere.
“I look forward to the emotion of the Premier League.
“The challenge of making the kids better and make a team that we hope can give us the results we hope to fight for. We have a team that is so much younger.
“We’re waiting for stability and conditions to succeed. I look forward to everything. It gives me this. It increases the pleasure I have for football.”
However, one thing Mourinho does not want to do is compete in the Europa League as it will mean the Blues have failed in the Champions League.
He explained: “If I win the Europa League, I see it as a failure because we go to the Champions League.
“If we win that it’s because we’re out of the group phase. I can’t say that to my players or my club can’t say that to me.
“We have to go step by step. We have to qualify from the group phase. Let’s see what we can do in the competition.
“There are more teams with ambition and potential and incredible economical potential.
“It looks like Financial Fair Play is only for some and not for others. We don’t want to play in the Europa League.
“They did well last season when they won – that’s good. We don’t want to play in that competition.”
