TRAYVON MARTIN AND MANDELA'S ADMONITION!

Mandela wrote this in one of his memoirs, and the reasoning still resonates till date. According to the South African journalist Max du Preez, Mandela was a fitness buff and would wake up every morning at 5 to jog but he was warned thus ”that a black man running around a white suburb would look very suspicious and refused to give him the key to the door.”

This brings to fore the raging storm in the case of Trayvon Martin. The parents of Trayvon Martin say they were shocked and disgusted by the decision to acquit his killer George Zimmerman.

In a series of televised interviews the black teenager's mother Sybrina Fulton, and father Tracy Martin, said they were "stunned" by the decision of a jury to acquit Mr Zimmerman of second-degree murder and manslaughter charges.

The six-woman jury accepted that Mr Zimmerman, 29, was acting in self defence when he shot the 17-year-old on Feb 26, 2012, inside a gated community in Sanford, Florida.

Mr Zimmerman said he had followed the teenager, who he thought was acting suspiciously, and that Trayvon then attacked him. Demonstrations across the US followed the verdict on Saturday and it also led to debates over race relations, gun control and self defence laws.

Describing her reaction to the verdict, Sybrina Fulton, Trayvon's mother, said: "My first thought was shock, disgust. I couldn't believe it. I think it (the legal system) failed Trayvon to a certain degree.
