The race towards who occupies the Ado-Ekiti government house of Ekiti State in 2014 is gearing up and the gladiators are battle ready to slug it out through enticing manifestos and good politickings.

But for the ruling party in the state, Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, it is still not certain who will flag the party’s flag at the election. While the incumbent governor of the state, Kayode Fayemi, has indicated his interest in running for a second term in office, another top party shot, Opeyemi Bamidele, who is presently a member of the House of Representatives, has also shown interest in becoming the state’s number one citizen.

In all of these, the party will only field a candidate to fly the party’s flag at the election. At a peace meeting held on Wednesday in Ado-Ekiti over clash of interest between the two party members, the National Leader, Bola Tinubu, declared his support for Governor Kayode Fayemi’s second term ambition, while urging Bamidele to stop dreaming of becoming the governor of Ekiti State in 2014 under ACN.

The meeting was held at the Jibowu Hall Government House in Ado-Ekiti. In attendance were Bisi Akande, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, Bamidele Olumilua, Lai Mohammed, Ekiti State House of Assembly members and some other party bigwigs.

Tinubu said, “it was MOB (Bamidele) that suggested Kayode Fayemi to be our candidate here in Ekiti and I stood by him with the support of the party chieftains. Opeyemi stood by him without diverse opinion. I won’t lie, regardless of party differences, we must come back to our senses.

“We are not here to select your leaders. We are here to resolve crisis and put our house in order. Ekiti is brilliant, exposed and vibrant. I won’t get angry because he is suppose to be here now. I know better than anyone of you even Fayemi cannot stand my wits of politics but we need to consolidate on the foundation, which is Fayemi.

“The party chieftain, cannot and will not be too livid to watch the house fall. But, my children and my leaders are patriots. We shall tell Opeyemi Bamidele, MOB, MHR that he should stop dreaming. He can’t face Fayemi.
