Police have arrested two people tonight following an attempted ‘smash and grab’ robbery at Selfridges

The incident took place at around 8.30pm whilst the department store on Oxford Street was still open and full of customers.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police Service said: “Police were called at approximately 8.30pm to reports of a smash and grab inside commercial premises on Oxford Street.

“It is not currently known how many people were involved. Two people were arrested nearby. Inquiries continue.”

The incident took place half an hour before the world-famous London shop was due to close at 9pm.
