LONDON MOSQUE DESTROYED IN RASCIST ATTACK!

Al-Rahma Islamic Centre in North London has been destroyed by a fire in an apparent anti-Islam attack.

The fire was started in the early hours of this morning and is being treated as suspicious by police, with the Met's Met's Counter Terrorism Command investigating. 

There were no injuries.

A police spokesman said the letters "EDL", allegedly standing for English Defence League, were sprayed onto a wall of the two-storey building in Muswell Hill.

No link has yet been found, but there has been a notable rise in the number of anti-Islamic attacks on people and property in the weeks since the murder of Lee Rigby in Woolwich last month. Rigby's family have called for calm but that has not stopped far right groups such as the EDL and British National Party (BNP) from organising anti-Islamic rallies and marches.

Speaking on the fire, Chief Superintendent Adrian Usher said:

"I have spoken to community leaders and assured them that a thorough investigation is being conducted.

The safety of our communities is always our priority and we are consulting widely, offering our support and reassurance.

All communities can be confident that they have our support and I can be contacted personally to answer their concerns."
